چکیده

In this work we have investigated the use of color descriptors to automatically locate the color target in the scene. Three different local descriptors have been tested. These descriptors are then used to return multiple localization hypotheses and a geometrical and appearance validation are introduced to select the most feasible pose. The experimental results on a public dataset of RAW images containing the Macbeth ColorChecker CC target and acquired in uncontrolled environments, showed that all the descriptors considered benefited from the hypothesis valida-

Fast Landmark Tracking and Localization Algorithm for the Mobile Robot Self-localization

We present a simple artificial landmark model and a robust landmark tracking algorithm for mobile robot localization. The landmark model, consisting of symmetric and repetitive color patches, produces color histograms that are invariant under the geometric and photometric distortions. A stochastic approach based on the CONDENSATION tracks the landmark model robustly even under the varying illum...

The Effect of Background Luminance and Ambient Illumination on Color Discrimination in a Crt

A matching task was used to measure the effects of ambient illumination, raster luminance, and target size on color discriminability in a CRT display. A set of ten easily distinguishable colors was presented under two conditions of ambient illumination (dark and bright) and two conditions of raster luminance (low and intermediate). Below this set, a target color was presented as either a circle...

Image segmentation and similarity of color-texture objects

We aim for content-based image retrieval of textured objects in natural scenes under varying illumination and viewing conditions. To achieve this, image retrieval is based on matching feature distributions derived from color invariant gradients. To cope with object cluttering, regionbased texture segmentation is applied on the target images prior to the actual image retrieval process. The retri...

Fusion of Texture Variation and On-Line Color Sampling for Moving Object Detection Under Varying Chromatic Illumination

In this paper, a novel approach to non-rigid moving object detection under varying chromatic illumination is proposed. Different from most algorithms that utilize color information, the assumption of smooth or global change of illumination is no longer needed. Our method is based on the observation that the color appearance of objects may alter as the change of light intensity and color, but th...

Color Transfer and its Applications

Varying illumination conditions result in images of a same scene differing widely in color and contrast. Accommodating such images is a problem ubiquitous in machine vision systems. A general approach is to map colors (or features extracted from colors within some pixel neighborhood) from a source image to those in some target image acquired under canonical conditions. This article reports two ...
